The Glorious Mysteries

The five glorious mysteries of the Holy Rosary, each with its scripture, fruit, and a short meditation to guide your prayer.

First Mystery

The Resurrection

Matthew 28:1–10

The Resurrection
"The angel said to the women in reply, 'Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said.'"

On the third day the tomb is empty and Christ is risen. Death is undone, and hope is given a body again.

Fruit: Faith

What in your life feels dead or beyond repair? Ask the risen Christ to breathe new life into that exact place.

Second Mystery

The Ascension

Acts 1:6–11

The Ascension
"When he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight."

Jesus blesses his disciples and is taken up into heaven. He leaves the world so that his Spirit can fill every corner of it.

Fruit: Hope and Desire for Heaven

Lift your eyes for a moment beyond today's worries. Ask Jesus to widen your heart with the hope of heaven.

Third Mystery

The Descent of the Holy Spirit

Acts 2:1–13

The Descent of the Holy Spirit
"There appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit."

The Spirit falls upon the disciples in wind and flame. Fear becomes courage, and a small room becomes the beginning of the Church.

Fruit: Love of God and Gifts of the Spirit

Ask the Holy Spirit for one specific gift you need this week — wisdom, courage, patience — and wait quietly for a moment before him.

Fourth Mystery

The Assumption

Revelation 12:1

The Assumption
"A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars."

Mary is taken body and soul into the glory of heaven. What was promised to her is promised, one day, to us.

Fruit: Grace of a Holy Death

Entrust to Mary the loved ones you have lost, and the ending of your own life whenever it comes. Ask her to meet you there.

Fifth Mystery

The Coronation of Mary

Revelation 12:1

The Coronation of Mary
"On her head a crown of twelve stars. She is the mother of the Lord, and the mother of all who follow him."

Mary is crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth. She reigns not by power but by the quiet strength of a mother's love.

Fruit: Trust in Mary's Intercession

Bring your deepest, most unspoken need to Mary as her child. Let her carry it to her Son on your behalf.
